Glenbrae Kids Visit

Today was a fulfilling day, as Room 7 had visited Glenbrae Kids.

When we entered the door of Glenbrae Kids, I was excited. Room 7 sat down quietly and began to sing a song called 'Toro Mai to Ringa'. Quite a few children was happy with the company of Room 7 which made the children sit on our laps and sway in between the tune of our beautiful voices. After the song was done, each students from room 7 choose a Glenbrae Kid & explored around.

Many students had an amazing time while "pretending" to be a false parent (Well, from my term).

Kea ~ Water Pollution

Water Pollution Animation..

Using Animaker, my reading group (kea), was capable to create a unbelievingly easy Animation to present our work on Water Pollution. There are many types of sites to create animations including Powtoon, but our group was sure to use Animaker as it is more efficient and easy to use. This Link, will take you to Kea's Water Pollution Animation, I hope you enjoy what we have been learning about.

Weekend Rotorua Trip.

You may not know, but I have taken up the courage to trail Waka Ama. I have some on-land Waka Ama experience and I have finally tested it on water, some weeks ago. Waka Ama is actually the logic for visiting Rotorua. My sister is apart of the Tamaki Outrigger Canoe Club and one of the races were coming up. We packed and got ready for quite a long trip, but in the end, it was all worth it.

It was at least 4am until the ringing on my phone slightly woke me up, I quickly got ready for a big day planned, but little did I know there was rain lurking outside for that day. As we were going to Rotorua/ the lake (for waka), we saw something that made us stop and take some pictures.

And it was Hobbiton, I've always wanted to visit Hobbiton and my wishes had delivered. That was an amazing opportunity.

Media Team Application Letter

8 March 2017

The Deputy Principal
Glenbrae School
103 Leybourne Circle
Glen Innes
Auckland

Thank you Mrs Raj for giving several students the chance to become a member of the Media Team, that is an amazing opportunity and I am so privileged.

I would like to express my strong interests in becoming a member of the media team at Glenbrae School. I do have some previous experience on being a strongly active media team member, but perhaps I could adapt and learn more about technology. I have some logics which you shall consider for this role. I have been in love with Technology for quite some time now, but adapting is not entirely on my agenda, although I would like it to. I have some unique skills which can come in handy for a movie, etcetera. I may not be able to set up the Music systems for assembly, there are regular compliments saying i’m a very fast learner.

I would like to keep this letter simple but also slightly complex. But, I am also very confident that my experience as well as my ability to collaborate and communicate would help make myself a very strong competitor. Thank you for your consideration and time.

Yours Sincerely,

Aaliyahna

House Captain Application Letter

7 March 2017

The Principal
Glenbrae School
103 Leybourne Circle
Glen Innes
Auckland

Dear Miss Elia. Firstly I would like to thank you for an opportunity of becoming a Nikau House Captain.

As you may know, I am writing to apply for the position of the Nikau House Captain. I am confident that I will be able to achieve being a successful house captain. I will assure that my peers have a more amusing time while I am in the Nikau house captain position. The following reasons will determine why you could consider my request. I believe that if I become the house captain of Nikau, my confidence levels would rise, especially considering that I am the Manaiakalani Ambassador of Glenbrae School. Becoming more confident is definitely a struggle, but ever since the Manaiakalani Ambassador has passed my table, my confidence is growing and soonly (maybe) adding the Nikau House Captain role would help widely.

I love being an inspiring role model towards younger students and being the the intellectual I am, I would like to use my skills to help students form respect which will benefit towards later life. Although I may not be as “aged” as many role models, becoming a young role model would be amazing. All my life, I would continuously say to myself “Will I ever become something valuable like a role model”. Yes, everyday, I doubted myself until, I was motivated by, staff members, students, parents and family, which forced me continue being motivated.

My final reason towards becoming the Nikau house captain is my enthusiasm towards learning and definitely house sports. I consider myself as a very competitive person who likes a great challenge and is very supportive. I believe that I will set a great example for some of the younger students attending Glenbrae School. Since Glenbrae has been learning about Fairplay (Actually, quite a while ago), I will remember to add being a good winner and loser.

Although I did doubt myself, I have changed and became impeccable. I am determined, hard working, enthusiastic and competitive which may suit for this position. If you do not pick myself, I will still support and be happy with your decision.

Yours Sincerely,

Aaliyahna.

Water Pollution

It’s not too late to be cleaning up the streams and rivers, from pollution.

My perspective is about Water Pollution. How would this earth be with all the pollution in our Streams & Rivers. Many people just don’t care about what they are doing with their rubbish, the rubbish may be from fast food places or even just rubbish from local supermarkets. The worst thing about rubbish and water pollution is that all the sea life/humans is being affected with all the rubbish. For example, a turtle had a long straw in it’s nostrils, I was very terrified while hearing this. Water Pollution should be ended to save the creatures which a harmless and make our earth happy!

1. What is Water Pollution? ~ Water Pollution is physical, biological or chemical change in the quality of water, which gives a critical effect. It will affect, whoever drinks from it and whatever lives inside it. Water Pollution is dangerous for all around the world, and needs to be stopped immediately.

2. What are the effects of Water Pollution?  ~The effects are highly dangerous. Which endangering fish, crabs, plants and much more. There are many more effects including the mess up with the Ocean's Food Chain, which is important towards the sea life. From my personal experience, Water Pollution also affects Humans, example, swimming in the oceans which are contaminated with Water Pollutions and becoming very ill. This is quite harmful towards humans, as majority of children love Water.

3. What can cause Water Pollution? ~ In New Zealand, the cases are the Dairy Farming and Cow Poop, (Yes, “Cow Poop”). Also In New Zealand, the storm waters (which aren’t taken care of), mix with Dairy Farming. Regular samples of Rivers, Lakes etc are being checked, to make sure Water Pollution has contaminated those areas. Meanwhile in other countries, sewage and water waste are occurring. One of the chemical problems are floating plastic bags and nothing good is happening. Fish/Sea Life are eating it and can’t digest it properly, which causes the Sea Life to sadly pass.

4. How much Waste is Occurring? ~ Per one year 5 - 10 Billion Tons (Yes, take a breather) of “Industrial waste”is being wasted, and which is forced to be pumped into unharmed Rivers, Aquifers etc.

5. Ways on How to Prevent Water Pollution? ~ I have some links for you to read about Water Pollution, there are some ways to prevent but not perfectly go away.  10 Important Steps to Help Towards Water Pollution. Preventing you!. Prevent Water Pollution.

Ambassador Opportunity Letter : Glenbrae School

28 February 2017

The Principal
Glenbrae School
102 Leybourne Circle
Glen Innes
Auckland

Dear Miss Elia & Mrs Raj

I would like to individually thank you both for giving myself an opportunity of a lifetime.

The Manaiakalani Ambassador of Glenbrae School would be an absolute dream come true.
My accomplishments on being a leader is not entirely perfect, but, as you would know, nobody's perfect. To be fair, I would never think negatively, so I think I am impeccable for this leadership role.
Towards being the Manaiakalani Ambassador, I have quite a few reasons why I should become the Ambassador. You may know that, I have been at Glenbrae School for several years, have received quite a few Top Academic Awards and have been a leader throughout my amazingly beautiful, years here at Glenbrae. I would now, finally love to give back to the school by becoming the Manaiakalani Ambassador of Glenbrae School and representing Glenbrae proudly and definitely eagerly.

Stepping outside of my comfort zone and being confident was always a big problem during my previous years at Glenbrae, as I was always very shy. The job as an Ambassador would definitely help my situation and also with enormous life decisions. Although I may not be attending Tamaki College, being the Manaiakalani Ambassador of Glenbrae School, would help my acceptance into Auckland Girls Grammar School.  My final logic is about myself becoming an inspiring Role Model, considering there are many younger students attending Glenbrae who could benefit from this. I believe I have always set good examples, I am passionate, approachable, determined, motivated and genuine.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours sincerely,

Aaliyahna ~ Hoping to be “Future Manaiakalani Ambassador”
