  1. Summary:

This article is all about the New Zealand Wars, and the history of each one of them. Let’s start off with the Northern War which started around 1845 and ended around 1846. The next war was the Taranaki War which began 1860 and ended in 1861. The Waikato War began 1863 and ended around 1864. There was the very last war which started around 1800s - 1840s, but ended around 1872.

Summary about War In Waihi

This weeks reading, Editors 1, 2 & 3 had been reading about War in Waihi. I had made a summary about what I have read about this story.

Summary

Title: War in Waihi

Author: Mark Derby

This article is about the War in Waihi and the Gold Miners Strike. In 1912 Rock had been dug from the Martha Mine and it and been going on for at least 100 years. Today miners use very very heavy machinery, in 1912 they had to use picks, shovels and dynamite. War started when some Gold miners had an idea about going onto strike. It had appeared so that Gold Miners had been on strike.

This week was Maori Language Week. I learnt some new words from the text I read for my reading activity.

Paua- A shelled seafish
Tapu- Restricted or apart
Pipi - A common edible bivalve
Rata - Large forest tree with hard red timber.
Totara - Large forest trees with prickly olive green leaves.
Piwakawaka - A fantail bird
Tumatauenga -
Tangaroa - Leader of all sea animals.
Atua - A God or demon
of his/her group
