Te Tuhi Gallery
Today, Room 8 from Glenbrae School had a visit to Te Tuhi Gallery and had the delight to create abstract paintings. Charlotte was the mentor and she had a few skills to share with us about painting. We all walked into a room which led us to the painting set up, she talked to us about overlapping and everything else included in abstract paintings. We picked 4 types of technologies that we adored and drew them on a cardboard paper. The next thing we did was paint them, it was exciting too.

Softball ⚾️
Today was an exciting day as Room 8 took part in Softball. We learned a chant that helped us to remember the rules for batting. The chant was; Knocking Knuckles, Bat behind ear, Eye on the ball, Stomp the bug, Squish the bug and swat the fly. We played a fielding and batting game which was absolutely fun. The person that was teaching us Softball gave us a few rules.
1. Check your surroundings
2. Do not throw the bat
3. A new batter only gets the bat when the coach calls for the new batter.
This session was really fun.

Healthy Tiria Kai
Today, we had a healthy Shared Lunch for the whole School at Glenbrae School. Room 8 prepared a Rainbow 5+ salad that had, Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Orange, Green Apple and Capsicum in it.
The other classes prepared Rotis (Wraps), Corn Fritter, Fruit Kebab, Sandwich, Pumpkin Soup + Bread and Hummus with sticks. Some of our parents were also there. After the shared lunch, some of us helped with cleaning up the hall. The food that I enjoyed was.. all of it!

Bush Walks!
Bush Walk
Into the very green mist forest, I sat there in pain as I was hurt stranded in a forest with nobody whatsoever. One day, two hours, eleven minutes and 45 seconds, “46...47...48...49….” I counted every step of the way throughout the adventure of the forest. Chick Chick! Boom! “What is that, Who is that?” I thought to myself with ease to find out what was happening. “HELLOOOOOO!” I shouted, “Hello” someone else screamed from the far part of the green forests.
I walked slowly with fierce towards the significant other and realised I wasn’t the only one there, stranded in that forest. We both met each other, but had insecurity issues. Aiden and I walked throughout the forest until we both suddenly saw a really big Possum, that was a bit bigger than ourselves and the worst thing was, he looked hungry with his very big brown eyes. “Ahhhhh! Run!!” Aiden and I roared while still running as fast as we could.
We turned back, the possum wasn’t following us so we decided to have a break. “I have a little house that we can be protected by” Aiden said to me. “Let’s go then, how far is it?” I replied to Aiden. 100m of running later we arrived at Aiden’s house and found some items that could help us with the attack with the possums. Aiden had a bunch of fruit since we were in a forest, the possum came hunting for us until I walked outside of the house the threw a bunch of fruit, one by one. The possum loved the fruit that it was time for it to leave.
Day 2 started for me and I was still stranded, we forgot about the possum since I went down to the North side of the forest. Seconds after my thoughts, a helicopter flew all the way over the forest looking for a sign of something. I rushed back inside Aiden’s house, “By any chance would you have anything neon?...” I said, “Yeah but It could be way too big for you to wear, and plus it's just a very huge flag” Aiden replied anxious.
I waved the flag side to side and up and down for any notice of the helicopter until it came flying down towards us. In that second I knew I was saved.

Technology at Tamaki College.
Today, the 14th of October 2016, year 7's from Room 7 went for technology.
We used a lot of materials for a necklace that is in progress. In the last few weeks we had picked a symbol for Technology and got it cut out with a Scroll Saw. When we where done with that process we had put some melted metal into it and waited around 10 minutes for the metal to set.
Once the metal was set, I had the delight to file it and shape it into the actual size we wanted, I made a dolphin. Also I'm in the process of filing it into the correct size. It takes a while to file it but when you get the job done, its all worth it.
This class is the Wood Tech class with Mr Grundy!

The Strength of Roots Summary
This is a summary on a book that we have been reading.
This story is about a time when a boy was in Samoa, and he was walking through the plantation when an earthquake struck. He still walked for a minute until the tsunami struck Samoa. For some reason he flew high up into a tree and was strapped with roots. When it was all over, he came down and saw a girl down in the creek. He realised he wasn’t the only one who survived.
This story was written after the devastating earthquake and tsunami that had struck the South Pacific on the 29th September 2009. 190 people, especially kids were killed in Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga. Most of these details are based on a true event.

Week 1 Term 3 Holidays Maths
James decided to paint his house. His bedroom walls are 4 metres long and 3 metres high. There are 4 four bedrooms in his house. The lounge is 6 metres long and 3 metres high, the kitchen wall is 3 metres long and 3 metres high, the laundry, toilet and shower area is 6 metres long and 3 metres high.
- If 6 litres of paint can cover 10 square metres of the wall, how much paint should James buy to If paint all the walls of his house?
- Paint costs $6.00 per litre, how much will James pay for the paint?
All of his bedroom walls equal up to 48 Square Metres.
Lounge : 18 Square Metres
Kitchen : 6 Square Metres
Laundry, Toilet and Shower : 54 Square Metres
This all equals 126 Square Metres, rounding to the nearest tenth is 130 SM. 130 SM divided by 10 equals 13. This means we need 13 Litres of paint and each paint litre costs $6.00. $6.00 x 78 Litres = $468 for paint.

Infinity Ring Book Three : The Trap Door
This is my review about the Book : Infinity Ring : The Trap Door
Sera, Riq and Dak had taken some adventures at Viking Land. Most of their shoes were filled with Mud and it had started to rain, they had noticed they were standing inside a weather - beaten cornfield. They had a very big discussion about the White House and The SQuare, no one much knew about the SQuare. They a bit of an extra adventure and they found a code. A + (Bowl Emoji) + (Fish Emoji - F) + (Sun Emoji) + (Paper Emoji - L) Shark Fin Emoji - F D + Angry Face Emoji. There is still a more accurate adventure.

"A Narrow Escape
A Narrow Escape
Waking up inside a weird, furious and cold odd room, I heard a few unusual sounds creeping up into the room I was in.. Suddenly I sat there and froze for at least one full second as a creature entered the room with horror, I was 100% scared on what would happen to me. BOOM! The creature was mysteriously gone and I was still there anxious.
I crept down the tall towering stairs as quickly and quietly I could. Looking around the very humongous house frightened me. As I was coming down the stairs, I fell down each stair hurting with pain. “Hey, She woke up, What a relieve” Shouted one of the giant creatures, “Where am I, What are you, You all” I shouted will fear all around.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Again no sight of the creatures but, BOOM! I had now moved into a barn which was filled with very cute and cuddly animals but then again BOOM! I switched from being into a barn but into a huge party room, which I liked. I met a few people, Makaya, Thomas, Daya and Oscar for some reason I knew I didn’t fit into that party squad. I explored around the room to see how and why I was being able to teleport from place to place, I saw a big red button…
Having the nerve to touch the button was also frightening but that took me to where I am now.. : In Dubai. I live in New Zealand but didn’t know how to find my way out of Dubai, as citizens of Dubai could not actually see me. Boom! I teleported into a house, it seemed like my house in New Zealand, very green and spaceful. I found out it was a duplicate that was especially made for me. I did the same thing I did at the Party Room. While spending time at the duplicate house, I found the red button, but there was a green button too. As I was thinking to myself I said a few words “Which button should I pick”, “Think of a game”, “If it was a red button what would happen, If it was a green button what would happen”.
I picked the green button because I knew it would be accurate. Ching! Boom! Ching! I woke up entirely and it was all a dream “Oh man, I wish it was real, but that was a Narrow Escape”
The End!
