Week 1 Term 3 Holidays Maths

James decided to paint his house. His bedroom walls are 4 metres long and 3 metres high. There are 4 four bedrooms in his house. The lounge is 6 metres long and 3 metres high, the kitchen wall is 3 metres long and 3 metres high, the laundry, toilet and shower area is 6 metres long and 3 metres high.

  1. If 6 litres of paint can cover  10 square metres of the wall, how much paint should James buy to If paint all the walls of his house?
  2. Paint costs $6.00  per litre, how much will James pay for the paint?

All of his bedroom walls equal up to 48 Square Metres.
Lounge : 18 Square Metres
Kitchen : 6 Square Metres
Laundry, Toilet and Shower : 54 Square Metres

This all equals 126 Square Metres, rounding to the nearest tenth is 130 SM. 130 SM divided by 10 equals 13. This means we need 13 Litres of paint and each paint litre costs $6.00. $6.00 x 78 Litres = $468 for paint.
