Day 1: 100% PURE New Zealand
Well, the time has now come! School’s out for the holidays and your tour of New Zealand is about to begin. I hope that you are ready and excited! Curious Kiwi certainly is – he can’t wait to start the Great Kiwi Road Trip! Before you all hit the road, let’s take a minute to review some key facts about New Zealand.
Activity 1: Go to the Tourism New Zealand website and click on the ‘Facts - New Zealand People’ tab. Read about the people of New Zealand and then choose three interesting facts to post on your blog. The facts must be written in your own words. Do not simply copy and paste the facts from the website☺.
Statement 1) New Zealand definitely has diversity, despite what you may think, trust me, New Zealand does have diversity!
Statement 2) We are talkative people, we are very upfront and straight up! New Zealanders have no fear, what so ever! We are very fierce, fearless and courageous human beings.
Statement 3) Our natures lands are truly alluring, the scenery, which is particular and every the general. We can be exploring the mountains or even taking a bush walk, New Zealand is one of a kind.
Fact 1) There is a 4.4 million population in New Zealand & only 14.6% are indigenous Maoris.
Fact 2) Over ¾ of the population is living up north of NZ and ⅓ of the total population is living in Auckland.
Fact 3) The word “Kiwi” represents New Zealand.

Wow at Fact 2 about the population and where they are living. We are definitely seeing the effects of the huge population living in Auckland with housing costing and also the cost of living in genera. I love hearing the word Kiwi when I am overseas just brings a sense of patriotism. Kiwi, kiwi, kiwi...?
When I wrote fact 2, I was very surprised as well. I will admit, Up north & south, is very calm.
Kiwi, Kiwi, Kiwi, Can, Can, Can!
Kia ora Aaliyahna and Mrs Tofa,
What a pleasure it is to read your blogs posts and your comments. They are so interesting and entertaining! I think that we are very lucky to live here in New Zealand but I do recognise that the population is growing at a rapid rate. I wonder how many people will be living in NZ in 50 years. What do you think, Aaliyahna? Do you think that we might have as many as 5 million residents by then? It's pretty hard to imagine where they will all fit!
Fortunately, as you have mentioned, kiwis are strong, independent, resourceful and creative. I am confident that we will deal with any changes that come our way because 'Kiwis Can!'
Keep up the great work, Aaliyahna. It is fabulous to have you back blogging with us again this year!!!
Cheers,
Rachel :)
