Barbados is the country that room 7 of Glenbrae School is studying about. I have done some research about Barbados and found a lot, and if you know the legendary Rihanna, this is where she comes from!

Basic Facts about Barbados

- Barbados is completely surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean!

- Is the birthplace of Rihanna, who moved from Barbados to the United States (as mentioned).

- The people of Barbados are called Barbadians!

- The name of the country, “Barbados,” is derived from “the Bearded Fig Trees.”

- Barbados is one of the most popular and preferred tourist destinations in the Caribbean.

- Barbados exports more than BBD $57 million of rum each year.

- Barbados’ smallest city–Oistins–is historically known as a fishing town.

As our class was inquiring into Barbados, we looked at the flag (as shown below) and thought it unlike, odd to have a trident then we further researched to find out that the blue represents the sea and sky of Barbados. While gold represents the sand of the island's beaches. The symbol at the center of the flag represents the Trident of the mythical sea god, Neptune - the shaft of the trident is broken symbolizing Barbados' break from Britain!
