SLJ ~ Summer Learning Journey Day 14 Week 3

Day 14 – Powerful People
You are now fully recharged having spent the last few days watching TV and listening to music in your hotel room. You decide to go for a walk. As soon as you step outside you see a big bus drive past. On the side of the bus is a huge picture of the leader, the president/prime minister, of the country. They are the most powerful person in the whole country.

Scroll down to learn more about the prime minister and/or president for your chosen country.
Activity 1
Here in New Zealand, the prime minister of the country is the Honourable John Key. Imagine that you are Mr. Key and you have the power to create laws (rules) that all people in New Zealand would have to follow. If I (Rachel) were the prime minister I would make a rule that everyone should eat lollies for breakfast. What three (3) rules would you make up if you were the prime minister? On your blog tell us what your three rules would be.
* On a very hot day, people around the country buys each other (or a stranger) an ice cream/Ice Block.
* We have fundraisers for the homeless or unfortunate.
* Workersget enough time for a break, so they would enjoy it!
Activity 2
Some people say that the most powerful person in the world is the president of the United States. Her name is Hillary Clinton and she became the president this past November when she beat out her competitor, a man named Donald Trump. Google ‘Hillary Clinton’ to find out a little bit more about her. On your blog, post three interesting facts about Hillary.
Hillary Clintion was the very first women to be elected to the New York Senate.
During Clintions younger ages, she organizeda Baby- Sitting group for children across the Mexcian Border.
In class 235 at Yale Law, Clintion was among only 27 women.
Bonus Activity
Being the prime minister of a country is a big responsibility. Would you like to be the prime minister of New Zealand one day? On your blog tell us what you think. Would you like to be the prime minister?  Why or why not?
50/50
The reason why I wouldn't is because if I wouldn't want to be ashamed by - maybe a mistake or faulty issue. I would be so embarrassed for not being a good Prime Minister!
I would is because, I will be able to add my 3 rules from the first activity and because I would have big decisions/responsibilities.

SLJ ~ Summer Learning Journey Day 13 Week 3

Day 13 – La, La, La...
Although you had a very restful day yesterday watching TV you have woken up feeling quite tired. You decide to turn on the radio and listen to some music before you get up and get on with your day. When you turn on the radio, the first song that you hear is one by Justin Bieber, a musician from Canada.
Activity 1
Justin Bieber is arguably one of the most famous musicians in the world right now. He has had (#) of Number 1 hits, including the songs:
Watch the three videos. After you have finished watching them, rank them from #1 (best) to #3 (worst). On your blog, list the three videos in order from best to work and tell us why you have ranked them in that order.
I’d rank #1 ~ Sorry by Justin Beiber because, I, personally love Parris Goebel, her group and dances, it’s really amazing!
#2 ~ Love Yourself because also the same as above ( I love, love, love dancing and all the moves) it is quite funny.

#3 ~ Baby, I’m not really feeling that type of ‘vibes’ yet so I have placed this 3rd!
Activity 2

Source: http://www.portableroadways.com/countdown-to-womad/
Every year there is a huge music festival held in New Plymouth, New Zealand. It is called WOMAD. WOMAD stands for ‘World of Music, Arts and Dance.’ The festival began in 1980 and there are WOMAD festivals held every year in Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Spain, Italy and The United Arab Emirates. They attract singers and performers from all around the world. Imagine that you are on the WOMAD organising committee for next year. Which two musicians/bands would you invite to perform? On your blog tell us the names of the two musicians/bands and tell us a bit about them. Where are they from? What kind of music do they play?
Six60 ~ Because they are an amazing New Zealand Band! Their group has five members and they were formed/created, in 2008! I absolutely love their type of music, it has a nice beat or sway of lyrics (If that makes sense?!) I'm quite sure that most citizens of New Zealand would know who they are but just putting them out there! (The Genres of Music are : Soul, Electronica, Drum and Bass, Pock Rock and R & B).

I don't have another one but, from my own personal opinion I would say we should search for an musician/bands throughout the earth! Eg : Like Africa or anywhere around those areas.
Bonus Activity
There are literally dozens of different types (‘genres’) of music in the world, including classical, rock ‘n roll, Rhythm & Blues (R&B), pop, hip hop, rap, jazz, etc. Some musicians play on their own and some play as part of a band. Arguably, the most influential band of all time is The Beatles. They were a rock band from Liverpool, England.
Dozens of movies have been made about the band. The most recent was a documentary called ‘The Beatles: 8 Days a Week – The Touring Years.’ Watch the trailer for this movie.
After you have finished, tell us two things that you learned about the Beatles from watching this trailer. They can be any two interesting facts!

* The Beatles members started to feel quite fed up & decided they would like to move around. “It was evolving, changing and we were with it”
* The Beatles were like a unit, they took care of each other and it had became brotherhood!

From my opinion the sound effects weren’t my likely but other then that It was AMAZING!!!

I would definitely rate this movie a Image result for 4.5 star movie rating
Finally, at the end of the review, give the video a rating out of 5 stars with 5 stars (*****) being amazing and 1 star (*) being terrible
Activity 2
Most of us like to watch TV when we have the chance. One of my favourite television shows, at the moment, is called Veep. It’s a show about a woman who becomes the President of the United States. It’s pretty funny! I watch Veep on HBO every Monday night.
What is your favourite television show at the moment? On your blog, tell us the name of your favourite television show and tell us, briefly, what it is about.
Personally my favourite TV show right now is MacGyver (2016 Version). Most people may think this TV show is quite boring but I love it! It’s about a clever, very clever man named Angus MacGyver and he is on a mission to find out what happens with his girlfriend Nikki. He and his organization have worked out a new sighting for their investigations. They are now called the “Phoenix Foundation”. Angus, Jack, Director Thornton, Riley and Bozer set off for an amazing adventure. Angus is a very smart/clever he can legit make anything you would need! Jack he is the protector of Angus - he protects him and helps him whatever he needs. Director Thornton is the leader and main person who directs them where they go. Riley is the computer hacker/genius! Bozer well, it’s complicated for him, Angus had been lying to him since… forever until he finally found out, now he works for the “Phoenix Foundation” creating masks - special ones!
Bonus Activity
Find a Youtube clip of a popular television show from New Zealand. Upload the link to your blog. Beside the link tell us the name of the show and tell us what is happening in the clip.

Activity 2
Write a short paragraph describing your sporting hero. Who is he/she? Why are they your favourite sportsman?
Well, my favourite sportsman is Valerie Adams the reason why is mostly because of her accuracy when it comes to Shot-Put. She is confident and loud speaking (Means, she say’s what she really wants to say). I really enjoy that she is a inspiration to other girls or even boys! I think that she has a lot of potential and she is using it wisely, I met ever met Valerie Adams I would have a legit interview ready!

According to the Love New Zealand website, the most popular sports in New Zealand are rugby union, rugby league, netball, soccer and cricket. In your opinion, which of these sports is the best one? On your blog tell us which sport you think is the best. Be sure to tell us why. Give us as many reasons as you can!
From my own opinion I would really say, Rugby Union. You must be thinking, why? Well, my first reason is because New Zealand is so successful in this state of Rugby Union. My second reason is because of New Zealand’s Haka!, I really adore this haka! My next reason is because of the respect that the players have. I have many more reasons just like how the players are so encouraging towards each other and their opponents. My very, very last reason is because the games are so entertaining and enjoyable to watch!

The student also gives you a page from their diary that shows you what a typical school day is like for them.

Think about your school and what you typically do in a day. Compare it with the diary from the German student. What is similar? What is different? In your blog, tell us:
The differences are that in my own school we start at 8:55 - 9:00 am. Some classes in my School has a different routine.. In my class we have a little talk until 9:15am and then we start on Reading, If we have enough time for Fitness we will have a good run and game. After Fitness we do writing until 11am which is our Interval! After Interval there is SSR (Sustained Silent Reading) for 10 minutes while drinking Milk. Next is Maths until 1pm which is our Lunch. Topic Study is after Lunch and it goes until home time which 2:40pm.
  1. Whether you would rather go to school in New Zealand or in Germany
I would most likely want to attend a school in New Zealand but I would still desperately go for Germany for a exciting - packed adventure
Why you feel that way?
Being honest, I would be anxious and nervous! (But still absolutely excited)

SLJ ~ Summer Learning Journey Day 9 Week 2

Day 9 – Meet my Family
Today you are going to visit a local family. The size and the composition of families vary a great deal from country to country. In places like Japan, Canada, Australia, South Africa, the United Kingdom and Germany, families are typically quite small. Most parents have 1 to 2 children and once children grow up and get married they usually live separately from their parents. This is not the case in the United Arab Emirates, Mexico, Malaysia or in Chile. In these countries, the families are often larger and members of the extended family live together for most of their lives. Scroll down to ‘meet’ a typical family from Canada.

Canadian Family
C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\My family portrait (Close Up).jpg
This is my family - the Williamsons. We’re a pretty typical Canadian family. When I was younger we lived in a small town (Almonte) in the province of Ontario, Canada. Approximately 5000 people live in Almonte. It is located 30 kilometres from Ottawa, the capital city of Canada.

My family is currently made up of five people. My dad, Ron, is on the left-hand side of the picture. He is married to my mom, Leslie (she’s the one in the blue dress). My parents have been married for 35 years! Together they had two children, Leigh (the one in the wedding dress) and me, Rachel. I’m the one in the black dress. In this picture my sister, Leigh, has just gotten married to her fiancée, Andrew (he’s the one in the grey suit!). This picture was taken in July 2012.
Activity 1
Now that you have met my family it is time to think about your own family. On your blog tell us about your family. How many people are in your family? Do you have any brothers or sisters? What are their names?
There are several members in my Family! I have one full-sister, One half- sister and One half brother but lets just say I have two sisters and one brother. My Brothers name is Avery. My sisters names are Jordaine and Aarmione. My family are very wild and crazy (In a very, very good way!), we love going out on family outings and just chillaxing with each and another! We are competitive when it comes to paintball, bowling or anything spilt into teams! My family are amazing and I am very lucky/proud to be apart of my family and as you would know my family are hard Islanders! On my Dad’s side we are Cook Island but on my Mum’s we a Niuean! My family are really funny and cool, we obsessed with family time, we just love being ourselves. *I hope this ‘little’ explanation about my family in enough!*
Activity 2
Some families are very large and some are very small. Some of the smallest families are found in China where parents are allowed, by law, to have only one child. This is quite different from countries like America (U.S.A.) where some families have as many as 19 or 20 children. It is rare but it does happen!
In America, there is actually a family with 19 children who have their own television show called ’19 Kids and Counting.’ All 19 children have the same two parents (Jim Bob and Michelle) and every single one of the children has a name starting with the letter ‘J.’ The oldest children is a boy named Josh and the youngest is a girl named Josie. Amazing!
If you’d like to see a small clip from the show, follow this link: 19 Kids and Counting
Imagine that you were one of the Duggar children and you had 18 brothers and sisters. What do you think it would be like to have so many sisters and brothers living with you in one house? On your blog please tell us what you would like and what you wouldn’t like about living in such a large family.
I wouldn’t exactly like to have all these siblings but there is good reasons why!
(Good) 1. You would actually have a lot more fun with all your siblings while playing games of anything other!
(Bad) 1. If you have something really fancy, your younger siblings with obviously take it.
But yeah, I reckon I still would want extra, extra siblings.

Bonus Activity
Choose a family member and conduct a short interview. In the interview ask them five questions about themselves:
What is your name?
Aarmione M.
Where were you born?
December 4th 2002 ~ Greenlane Hospital
How many siblings do you have?
1 but 2 half siblings.
What is your favourite thing about living in New Zealand?
We have diversity and also it’s a beautiful country to live in, no words could explain exactly what i’m trying to say!.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? Why?
Well, I wouldn’t just travel to a separate country, I would completely travel around the world, I love travelling and it is a passion of mine!
By the WAY! Merry Christmas to you and your family. I hope all have an amazing day, Take Care and God Bless :)

SLJ ~ Summer Learning Journey Day 8 Week 2

Day 8 – Sunshine and Swimming Togs
Good morning! It is Day #8 of your journey and, according to the local weather station, today is going to be cloudy and wet. Back home in New Zealand it is sunny and 28 degrees Celsius today.  It is a perfect summer day! Think about what you like to do in the summer time and complete one or more of these activities. C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\sunshine picture.jpg
Activity 1
What are your favourite things to do in the summer time? For this activity you have two different options: (1) You can take a picture of yourself doing one of your favourite summer time activities and upload it to your blog along with a description of what you’re doing or (2) you can write a paragraph that tells us about what you love doing in the summer on your blog. It is completely up to you!

During the Summer ‘Adventure’ Holidays I love outdoor activities like, Swimming and all things to do with water! I desperately love water and how I feel during my times. When I said “Adventure”, I meant I also love having adventures, to me, it would mean walking upon no-where I have even seen and continue for as long as I would like. Bascially I’m an outdoor person and I love outdoors!
Activity 2
C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\Video Blog.jpgAsk someone in your family or one of your friends what their favourite five things are to do in the summer time. On your blog, write the title ‘Summer Activities’ and, below the title, tell us about the five things that they love to do.
Summer Activities from Cherise!
  1. Camping
  2. Shopping and Going to malls
  3. Going to Theme Parks
  4. Swimming and Relaxing at the same time
  5. Spending time with Family and friends
Image result for Summer Activities
Bonus Activity

Instead of taking a picture or writing to us, for this activity you are invited to make a short video blog (3-4 minutes). On the video blog please tell us about your favourite summer time activities. Upload the video to your blog. Make sure that you write a short description below the video so that people know what the video is about.

I love being outdoor as I was saying in the first activity but you'd have to hear everything else!
